Your phone won’t give you cancer and you don’t get the flu from the flu shot

Aaron Carroll is ready to fight the medical myths again. This time it is about the phone and its cancer giving properties, which have not been demonstrated even after 2 decades of studies from around the world.

Phone use microwave radiation, liek the one from your microwave oven, but at much lower intensity and thus, the only possible effect when used continuously is a mils heating of the area where the phone is near your skin.

Heating. Maybe not even one degree.

So, as for cancer giving properties, phones have not been proven to do that.

Next up: does the flu shot give you flu? Nope. The symptoms you feel when you get the flu shot is your body reacting to the inactive viruses or bacteria in that shot.

So, if you fell ill after you have been given a flu shot, then that means that you are ok, your body works. It simply mounts a response to the inactive pathogens from the vaccines.

You’ll be ok in no time, but ready for the big battle:

Are microwave ovens a danger if you stay next to them? No.

No, microwave ovens are not the danger one woul;d think they are. The microwave radiation generated is at least 100 to 1000 times weaker than the visible light. Microwaves have wavelengths of 1cm to 1cm and that means energies of 12.4 microeV to 124 microeV. By comparison red light has at least 1.24 eV energy. It is still weak, but way powerfull than any microwave would be.

The heating power of the microwave is given by the fact that the waves are amplified in the microwave oven since they don’t have anywhere to do. In any case the microwaves are fine, you sue them daily in the phones or when you use WiFi(wifi, bluetooth use microwaves) so there is no harm in there. If the microwave oven works ok, then you can use it with no issues.

Science in 9.99 s: microwave ovens, the dark side of the Moon and blue sky

Minute Physics is at it again: science in under 10 seconds. 9.99s videos are enough to get a broad image and to understand some phenomenons. You only need to check more if you need more info.

Microwaves are electromagnetic waves that can cook our food. They are low energy waves that can heat up matter, but they have a wavelengths bigger than the crystals of glass and thus they cannot escape the oven:

There is no dark side of the Moon. There is, in fact, a side that we do not see, but it has all the cycles of day/night that every revolving cosmic object has. We do not see that side because the Moon orbits around the Earth in the same time it rotates around its axis:

The sky is blue due to the fact that the blue light gets scattered more into the atmosphere than the other colors:
