NASA Johnson Style (Gangnam Style Parody) hits the web hard

Gangnam Style, from PSY, has killed all the stats on YouTube with over 992 million views. Many have started doing Gangnam style parodies and some of them are quite interesting like the one above. NASA Johnson Center students have created the video from above. ++1 from me.

3D printing awesomeness overload: three interwoven gears will rock your day

Hanry Segerman showed off what you can do with 3D printers and a lot of imagination. The three gears work in pairs and are able to move relative to each other because the movement axis are skewed. There are several contact surfaces and the calculations need to be precise in order to leave enough rolling place.

The world of 3D printing offers many great surprises. See this video on how they created a working wrench that can be used in our workshops. Creating the models layer by layer allows the 3D printer to make precise pieces and take into account the functional relationships between pieces (like if piece A moves somehow relative to piece B). Awesome does not describe what these guys are doing in there.

M4SONIC’s music magic with Novation Launchpads

Geeksaresexy publishes great things from the web. Like M4SONIC for example. He uses Novation Launchpads to store music fragments and then play them live by pressing the buttons.

Those Launchpads are awesome if you want to be in the DJ&remix work and simply gather millions of views with your compositions. M$SONIC has proved to be way too cool to remain unknown. See the video from below too. Simply enjoy!

See this video only on 12.22.2012

The end is nigh. Oh, no. Really, the Mayan Calender wonÈ›t stop on 21st December 2012. It only complwtes a cycle at that date. NASA has created this video and explains why no asteroid, solar flare, rogue planets, atomic bombs and so on won’t destroy the World.

So, lay back and relax. Christmas is here.

Humble Bundle is here: get 8 games for as low as $6

I am in heaven. Alhough the Humble Bundle (6 days to go from Dec 7th) offers mostly indie games where you pay what you want, THQ has rolled in this year and changed a bit the rules, offering two extra games if you donate more than the average of $5.59. You can donate $1 and still get the following games: Red Faction Armageddon, Darksiders, Metro 2033, Company of Heroes, Company of Heroes: Opposing Fronts and Company of Heroes: Tales of Valor.

If you offer about $6 then you will get two extra games: Saints Row: The Third and Titan Quest. Dare I say that I awaited the salary as a Holy Day to get these? I am a gamer, albeit an avid one and I found myself often in the situation that I needed to uninstall a game because I played it until 5am and at 8am I had to be@work. Crazy, I know!

I like that I get mostly shooters in this humble pack and I installed Steam instantly. They are waiting to be installed now. First one to play is Metro 2033. The scarcity of weapons, the atmosphere, the post-apocalyptic world, the colors and sounds, and The Librarians make a great start of a week-end.

If you do nto have Steam installed, the go here, click on top right on Install, then doanload and install Steam. Once you paid for the games you will get a link where you can generate the keys. Having the keys you need to fire up Steam in your PC (games are Windows only) and then go to Games -> Activate a Product on steam and then insert your codes. You will see soon the games in the list.

Click on the image below to go to Humble Bundle and get your games. As an aside note, I hate it when Amazon has Deals of the Day with sales of only $20 and for US only. Since I am in Romania I have to pay up $100+ for that game and I have an Amazon account. Not fair!

Rube Goldberg anti-gravity machine [illusion]

Watch it once, don’t believe it. Watch it twice, still don’t get it. This Rube Goldberg defies gravity. Sir Isaac Newton is turning in his grave right now. The illusion is created by using magnets and the first part of the device is installed on the roof.

Once the camera turns you will see that the device is on a normal, horizontal table too. This Rube Goldberg device is a first because is seems to defy gravity at first, until you know how it works. Nice to see such inventive uses of magnets.

Forget wingsuit basejump. Here’s DUNE RIDING done by bedouins

Ah, the irony. Some wingsuit basejumpers spend around 40k a year to travel and have the best gear packed and these bedouins are flying over the dunes, or better said they are riding the dunes for free. Their clothing is a perfect fit to slide over the sand of those dunes.

Say what you want, but dune riding goes into my top 20 things to do in life. Awesome!

M16 vs Microsoft Surface: pounding like in teh movies

Do you like guns in the movies? do you like action packed scenes and explosions? And do you like bullets flying in slo-mo? Then this is the right place. Rated RR shows off the M16s, dual wielding, and how their bullets simply rip the Microsoft Surface to pieces.

Am awesome spectacle, although it kinda pains me to see such a nice gadget being completely destroyed. Well, it all int eh name of fun, and maybe some science if you calculate that a bullet at that speed hits that tablet with the force of a baseball bat. Enjoy!

Dive into a new week with this wingsuit basejump video

In the video form above you will see basejumpers Parker Pridgen, Corbin Usinger, Zak Tessier, and Tom Grayson. The video starts with an almost failed paraglider deply, but then the basejumper returns to the normal path.

The rest of the video shows the risky paths th flyers take by going very near to the cliffs. This all has one word: wow. Enjoy.
