SciShow space takes us through a journey into Robert Goddard’s life, the original rocket scientist. He was the first one to say that you do not need air to move a rocket around. He told everyone that you could use a rocket in space and he was ridiculed at first.
Then he invented a liquid fuel rocket and it worked. His latest liquid fueled rocket motor would propel the rocket up to more than 1 mile high, which was enormous by the accounts of that time.
