Asteroid sky watch – something that we need to do

BBC News is watching the asteroid watchers who are working around the clock to check whether there are any asteroids heading towards Earth. An asteroid impact, although unlikely in the near future, can disrupt our civilization, but not end it.

We’re at a given technological point in which we won’t be wiped out by an asteroid impact and we’ll manage to get over it. Most of us.

Jay Tate who runs the National Near Earth Observation Centre in UK says that we need to be actively watching what happens even if the governments don’t want to get involved. Jay Tate gathered enough money and equipment to start the asteroid watch and he convinced some people that asteroids are a real threat and the next one could hit our homes.
