Star Wars Documentary: From Star Wars to Jedi: The Making of a Saga (Part 3 of 9)

In this third part of the Star Wars documentary we learn about the slug-like crime lord Jabba the Hutt, from Episode VI Return of the Jedi. This monster had to be created with a lot of though and creativity. Four to six men would handle the giant puppet that costed over 500 000 dollars to design and build. At it’s time it as one of the most biggest and most costliest monsters ever made for a movie.

Jabba the Hutt needed to be as lifelike as possible. It had to have a mouth that could move naturally and eyes that would express some life in them. Different places of this monster had to be handled from inside and others via remote controllers.

Star Wars was and engineering feat as it was a genius of a movie series.
