Why won’t this bowling ball simply fall between the skydivers?


If you do some skydiving and also take a bowling ball with you, you’d expect it to zip right to Earth leaving you way behind. so why won’t it just go down like that given that the form factor allows it to fall faster?

Well, if you look in the video from above, you’ll see that the bowling ball has some strings attached and those strings keep the ball behind due to the friction with the air. Clever trick!
