Eubranchipus vernalis, ancient creatures that still roam the Planet

You got it: they’re small and very well hidden in patches of water in the Northern Hemysphere. Eubranchipus vernalis represents an ancient life form that has survived some 500 million years. They have adapted, moving from the world’s oceans to vernal pools in northern forests.

They lay eggs that can survive for years before letting the offspring into the wild and play around int he waters only in parts of the year, because when winter comes the waters get frozen and during hot summer days the same water may evaporate. In any case, these little animals are some of the true survivors of the time.
