No logic there: imperial measurements

Imperial measurements, first setup by Whilhelm The Conqueror in 1066, use inches, steps, paces, points, digits, nautical miles, miles, roman miles, ropes, lines, chains, hands, twips, yards, fathoms, cables, leagues, stick, palm, nail, span, cubit, shatments, ropes, picas, points, lines, poppy seeds.

And there is the meter. One and only. Divisions and multiples of that meter cover all dimensions you need in this Universe. Take that imperial measurements.
