How far is a second or how long is a film?

One meter is the length of the path travelled by light in a vacuum in 1⁄299,792,458 of a second (1983). But how far is a second? That depends on the transportation vehicle you use.

The store might be 10 minutes away or Sydney 14 plane-hours away. Calculating distances in time is actually better than knowing the actual distance. Why? Because it counts when we get somehwere, not how much have we traveled. If you wanted to admire the landscape then distance counts in miles, meters or the sort.
