Kitchen Science – The Egg Sprinkler Mistery

Science Friday has some awesome videos about everyday phenomenons, which they explain in thorough experiments made for us all to understand.

In the video above you can see that if you put an egg on the table in the middle of poured milk and spin that egg then the milk will travel up the rotating egg up tot he half of it.

After some experiments SciFri concluded that this happens because of the low pressure located at the middle of the egg and because of the stickiness of the milk on the eggs surface. Basically, if you spin that egg the speed of the particles closer to the half of the egg is greater than the speed of the particles close to the table. This will create a lower pressure near the half of the egg.

Eggs and science. Don’t you just love it? Via [The ones with a cool thing a day].
