What are Higgs Bosons and The String Theory [videos]

An interesting fact about Physics is that is knows a lot, but it has a lot of voo-doo too: the theories. Mostly, scientists are not able to explain gravity, if anti-gravity exists, if “dark matter” exists or if the String Theory will be a valid theory.

But you will say: Hey, but scientists have explain what gravity is. Nope, they created a formula based on the empirical observations. They have seen gravity at work, rolled out a formula that explains what it happens. But it does not explain how or why.

Higgs Boson is a theoretical particle that would explain why elementary particles have mass. Mass is different than gravity. Mass is the amount of matter in one place and gravity is a force that acts upon two objects with mass. So far no Higgs Boson has been found at large (LHC, I mean).

Closely related to this subject comes the String Theory that wants to be the Theory Of Everything that would explain how all the forces in the Universe are working. It introduces us to the real voo-doo of theoretical physics: tiny strings that, when they vibrate, they generate particles.

As curious as this theory it seems, it is the only one that has been widely accepted and has a mathematical model (duh) to back it up. This too, has yet to be proven by experiments.
