The Chemistry of Sunscreen and how to choose one [video]

Bytesize Science explains why we need sunscreen, what is that and how it protects us from the harmfull UV-A and UV-B radiation. We get to learn how to choose a sunscreen and even what those acronyms mean.

Since it already summer in the Northern Hemisphere it is time to take a nap in the Sun. When choosing sunscreen make sure it is broad spectrum (protects from UV-A rays) and that it has an SPF (Sun Protection Factor – protects from UV-B rays) of at least 15. Meaning that it delays the onset of a burn for fifteen times longer than if you didn’t used sunscreen.

Also, make sure to use the lotion once every two hours. Now that I took some science classes I’ll need to buy some lotions. Just in case 😀
